The Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) is a public engineering institution. It ranked 13th for Engineering by NIRF 2019. It was established by the government of India in 2009. IIT Indore is one of the renowned colleges in India. It is one of the IIT’s which takes cream students and produce better engineers. In addition, it is an Institute of national importance.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admissions to IIT Indore’s BTech programmes, candidates must comply with the eligibility criteria for JEE Main and JEE Advanced which includes various criterions like the candidate’s performance in JEE Main, age limit, number of attempts, appearance in Class XII.

Admission Process

Firstly, aspirants need to qualify JEE Main. Top 2.4 lakh students who clear JEE Main will be eligible for JEE Advanced. If aspirants clear the first stage i.e. JEE Main, they need to appear for JEE Advanced. Admissions will be based on the rank acquired in JEE Advanced. After JEE Advanced results are declared, students need to appear for JoSAA online counseling.

Placement

This year in the first placement season, so far around 30 students. From CSE branch, got placements with most of them getting more than 30 lacs per annum packages, 35.5 lacs per annum is the highest package offered till now. Last year, a guy from the electrical engineering branch got 45 lacs per annum which is the highest package of the year. In 2014, a student had got 1.4 crores per annum package from Google.

Infrastructure

As per facilities, the internet speed is not at all an issue. You will get Wi-Fi as well as LAN connectivity. The Wi-Fi gives you speed good enough to stream a YouTube video at 1080p without buffering. While LAN provides the speed of more than 100 MBPS. Labs are good. Classrooms are also good. The library is not as big as in old IITs, but it’s just enough for us to study. There is a 24X7 medical facility available. An ambulance is always available on the campus.

Being among the new IITs started in 2008, and given that the government could not get the land cleared for 3 years, the campus is still under construction. There is a football ground, badminton court, table tennis table, foosball table. The cricket ground and a sports complex are yet to come up. Mess food is average. There are canteens which provide good food at a good price. The hostel rooms at IIT Indore are undoubtedly the best in India. In the senior hostel, every student gets a single room, and 5 students share one common room, common kitchen. A small refrigerator is also provided. In studio apartments, 3 students share a spacious 1BHK flat.

Faculty

All teachers are highly qualified and conduct regular classes and also are very useful throughout the curriculum. Every one among them is very friendly interactive and never go rogue to students. Digital, as well as verbal methods, are used to teach in classrooms. Few professors are really good, and their lectures are quite interesting. Some professors use PPT to teach while some use the blackboard. The student to teacher ratio was okay. The course curriculum is useful, especially, for CSE.
